On March 3rd & 4th, 2006 Cat performed with her very first band "The Es-Shades" at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio. Along with her was original bassist/vocalist Mark Lance and original drummer Richard Carmichael. The two shows were a HUGE success and brought back a lot of old fans as well as creating new ones. Go to The Es-Shades website for some pictures from the show and rehearsal.

 The Es-Shades
The daughter of a musician/music teacher in Lodi, Ohio, Cat started out on trumpet at age 6. With music in her blood, her interests turned to the guitar at age 12. Starting out just a few months later with a drummer, her first performances were just as a two piece band, later becoming four, then finally five with Cat playing lead guitar in an otherwise all-male band. The band was called “The Es-Shades.” This band toured most of Ohio and parts of Michigan. They opened for several recording acts such as the “Outsiders,” "The Five Americans,” and “Ohio Express,” and released two 45s of their own.

From there she played with another Ohio band, “Simon Legree,” before moving to Mississippi where she performed with a house band called “Caesar’s Children.” This band opened for Joe Tex, Donna Fargo, Clarence Carter, Tyrone Davis, and did a short tour with Percy Sledge; Cat on trumpet.

She then toured the U.S. with the all-girl band “Harem."

After playing briefly in a band in New Orleans (“The Saxons”), Cat moved back to Ohio. There she played lead guitar and sang in several bands including “Troppo,” “Mongoose,” her own 3 piece band “Cat,” and later “Harlow,” “Steeplechase,” “Threshold” and “Falcon.” These bands traveled throughout Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, and played all the top clubs in Cleveland and Akron.

Then came the short lived Lansing, Michigan band "Secrets."

Moving to Toronto, Cat joined the all-girl group “Apple Viper.” This band quickly became a very popular club act touring Ontario and Manitoba and opened for “Honeymoon Suite” and “Kickaxe.” They also appeared on TV, radio, and placed in several contests including the “Canadian National battle of the Bands,” the ”CBC Television Rock Wars,” the “Maxell Metallion Marathon,” and local radio station “Q107 Homegrown.” The latter two gained them a place on the respective compilation albums. The band also did a TV commercial in Toronto for a local leather store.  Steeplechase

The next move was to Sacramento, where she played guitar with “Lane King & the Fire Eaters.” The following few years were spent writing songs, practicing, participating in the local music store “Weekend Warriors” program, and working at a TV station.

Cat played lead guitar in the Sacramento classic rock band "Lestat" from early 2000 until Nov. of 2002.

In 1998 Cat began recording in her new home digital recording studio. That’s where a new direction took shape with these CDs being the end result, concentrating on the guitar like her hero Jeff Beck. Some say her music now sounds a little like Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, or even Gary Hoey (She considers this QUITE a compliment!). In any case, her focus lies on the guitar instrumentals. Cat played all the parts herself except for the drums which were done entirely with a drum machine. She also now enjoys composing and recording music for movie soundtracks.

Enjoy!
